About this role

As Senior Planner / Scheduler, your priority will be scheduling within Project Controls for moderate to high risk capital engineering and construction projects. You’ll be focused on project planning and scheduling, monitoring, progress measurement, risk management and reporting.

You’ll be giving guidance to the team members reporting to the Project Controls Manager. Your experience and judgment will help you to plan, accomplish goals and deliver on project milestones.

The project site is in Indonesia and there will be occasional travels to site. There may be an occasional need for after-hours communications with terminals and/or customers.

Planning / Scheduling Duties:

You’ll guide and direct the resolution of project challenges, and manage complex project control issues. You’ll need strong analytical skills to review all project controls information and ensure accuracy, as well as identifying issues, concerns and potential mitigations.

  • Manage project baseline process for schedule and participate in progress measurement as well as forecasting of final schedule throughout the project using Primavera;
  • Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend mitigations and potential work-arounds;
  • Participate in risk management and tracking of potential risks on the project;
  • Determine and communicate potential schedule/progress impacts of potential risks;
  • Identify, determine and communicate design changes, scope changes, schedule slippages and potential impacts and participate in the identification of mitigations;
  • Ensure trends of cost and schedule are identified, ensure the change management process is followed and corrective actions proposed and communicated.

Managerial / Leadership Duties:

  • Interact with the Project Management and Corporate teams for development of the project schedule. Gather information, conduct analysis and prepare reports and presentations of information to communicate potential issues and concerns as needed on the project in monthly meetings. Integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule;
  • Coordinate with cross functional team in project setting, ensure project controls team members are interfacing with engineering, procurement, contracts and construction on concepts and relationships to the scope of work;
  • Mentor and lead other project planner/scheduling members, ensure project planning team is staffed appropriately, conduct regular staff performance reviews and manage any staffing issues that may arise.

About you

You’ll need at least 15 years of experience in project planning/scheduling of construction mega projects, and be able to demonstrate considerable expertise in Primavera.

Required:

  • Fluency in English;
  • Experience with all disciplines of construction of metal mining operations;
  • Experience with cost estimating for civil projects, project scheduling and project controls.

You’ll have a broad knowledge of the principles and practices of heavy industrial construction and the ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions at all times.
