Brunel has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician for our client who are a global leader in mining solutions and quality products throughout the world in the Mining Industry. This is a permanent position located in St. Helens, Oregon. You will be responsible to be an expert in supporting Environmental initiatives in several areas. You will be part of a dynamic team who manages activities involved in required inspections, waste handling, air emission, water discharge, and training and documentation of these activities. About this role

  • Assist with environmental reporting, recordkeeping, monitoring, compliance, and audits;
  • Assist plant personnel and contractors with environmental training;
  • Assist in updates to regulatory compliance manuals;
  • Provide assistance for internal environmental audits;
  • Conduct weekly injection well sampling;
  • Obtain Drinking Water Level 1 Operator status;
  • Conduct Drinking Water sampling;
  • Conduct Off-Plant water sampling;
  • Provide oversight of consultant during VRP groundwater sampling;
  • Schedule weekly Method 9 and 22 Observations and file reports;
  • Provide stack testing support;
  • Conduct SWPPP, SPCC and waste inspections;
  • Assist with incident investigations/RCA’s;
  • Schedule and facilitate waste pick-ups and documentation retention;
  • Follow up on SHAERS action items;
  • Actively participate in turnarounds;
  • Maintain inspection and environmental documentation and archiving.

About you

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Environmental Science or related field preferred. Associates in related field will be considered;
  • Some chemical plant, refinery or field experience preferred;
  • Some knowledge of local, state and federal Environmental regulations strongly preferred;
  • Math and writing competency;
  • Project oversight experience;
  • Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Program (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
