About this role

As the site manager you will be the expert driving operational excellence in safety and efficiency to deliver high-quality explosive products. Your main focus will be around all aspects of safety:

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable Company HSEQ Performance Standards, and all relevant regulations;
  • Driving Root Cause Analysis for any HSE incidents and significant production downtime issues;
  • Taking the initiative to ensure compliance with safety systems and constantly being aware of potential improvements.

You’ll be a leader, championing best-practice cultures externally with manufacturing and vendors, as well as internally by educating manufacturing personnel on safe processes. Your role as an HR leader also means:

  • Developing Site Supervisors for succession;
  • Arranging shifts to ensure cover for Site Supervisors with vacation and other leave events;
  • Supporting increased expertise across the emulsion organization, and development of core competencies with plant/site leadership.

You’ll have responsibilities impacting the operational business:

  • Maintaining the plant's expenditure and assets to achieve financial targets;
  • Ensuring the delivery of products and services from the relevant plants;
  • Effectively managing operating expenditures to deliver on agreed budgets;
  • Implementing and coaching BEx methodologies to reduce waste and improve sustainability;
  • Identifying and eliminating/reducing waste from emulsion and ANFO plant operations.

Your customer service focus will result in these outcomes:

  • Understanding and enhancing service requirements to continually improve customer profitability;
  • Identifying, recommending and leading continuous improvement projects that have financial benefits for customers and the organization.

You’ll have a strategic influence too, communicating all information that may have an impact on the organization, its business, operations and competitor activity.

About you

Education & Experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (directly related work experience may be substituted for some of the educational requirements);
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant industry experience in a professional or technical capacity, with a minimum of 3 years as a supervisor;
  • SAP expertise with materials management, sales and distribution functions
  • Strong understanding and responsibility for compliance to relevant OSHA, ATF, DOT and EPA and local regulations.

You’ll need some experience in emulsion and/or fuel phase production facilities. Your experience in supervisory roles will be essential – this role requires people management skills, performance management, mentoring and coaching.
