Brunel has an exciting opportunity for a Jr Day Operator for our client who are a global leader in mining solutions and quality products throughout the world in the Mining Industry. This is a permanent position located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. You will be responsible to be the expert in the inspection and care of loading equipment. You will be responsible for loading product on trucks and bulk railcars; operating heavy industrial equipment; interacting as needed with truck drivers. Inspect trucks for condition prior to loading. About this role

  • Demonstrate and/or lead the commitment to the pursuit of achieving Zero Harm through behavioral based safety;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE performance standards, objectives and regulations;
  • Take an active role in the implementation of Business Excellence (BEx);
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of equipment; sweep and/or shovel spilled product. Will take steps to minimize product spillage;
  • Operates loading pumps, loading systems and transfer equipment, troubleshooting equipment, forklift and various valves, pumps, instruments and testing equipment. Read various gauges measuring temperatures, pressures or flows, records readings and may make adjustments and/or minor repairs;
  • Sample loaded trucks and railcars and bring samples to the lab for quality control;
  • Read technical information and take appropriate action, based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID’s), Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), Emergency Response Manuals, Safe Work Practices (SWPs) and other relevant technical manuals;
  • Checks and maintains lubrication of heavy industrial rotating equipment;
  • Reports deficiencies, incidents, and requests repairs/improvements to the Lead Operator;
  • Samples product and performs Quality Control testing;
  • Makes entries to Operator Logbooks and communicates operating conditions to his/her relief;
  • Cooperates and assists other plant operators as required during startups, shutdowns and emergencies;
  • Participates in shift turnover with incoming crew members on process equipment status, fills out logbook and receives instructions;
  • Will mentor and train less experienced crew members;
  • Will train and eventually become qualified to upgrade positions;
  • Maintains good housekeeping in all areas;
  • Other duties as assigned;

  • Ensure compliance with applicable Company HSE Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations;

  • Supports BEx initiatives and ensures participation
    from all areas of responsibility.

About you

  • High school graduate or equivalent;
  • Successful completion of training certification and qualification requirements and satisfactory job performance;
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical data; must have aptitude for mechanical principles and math;
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player School diploma required;
  • Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred;
  • Minimum of 5 years related technical experience;
  • Leadership or supervisory experience required;
  • Ability to understand Safety, Quality, Capacity and Continuous Improvement aspects of all processes;
  • Knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot issues in all of the various processes;
  • Must satisfy the requirements for a “possessor of explosives” as defined by BATFE;
  • Ability to provide direction and coaching to others in an effective leadership manner;
  • Ability to foster teamwork and collaboration among all shift employees;
  • Ability to listen, understand and take technical data from others into consideration in making operational decisions;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Safety rules, Work Instructions, Process Specs, Quality Plans, Employee Handbook, Employee information booklet and, and Packaging Standards;
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively in both written and verbal manner;
  • SAP and Microsoft office proficiency.
