About this role

  • Knowledgeable and use practices consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, Surface Blasting SOP, work site, regulatory and safety policies and procedures.
  • General knowledge and understanding explosives technology, basic geology, and seismology.
  • Support Blast Crew Tasks.
  • Ability to competently complete a blasting report, inventory records, and other appropriate documentation.
  • Design the appropriate use of explosives to properly the customers.
  • Investigate all product complaints and poor performing blasts and report these to the proper plants, regional management and the Senior Technical Resource Manager.
  • Support to develop expert capability in Value-In-Use applications, including electronic detonators, Technology One, gassing and blasting technology.
  • Support region and management to increase market position and revenue from customers including members, independent distribution and direct sales to support EBIT objectives.
  • Develop professional relationships with both internal and external customers to successfully meet objectives and add value for customers, joint ventures, manufacturing sites and distribution.
  • Respond professionally and timely to address problems and business requests.
  • Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.
  • Decision Making Authority: Make decisions of a low to moderate degree of complexity.
  • Major Challenges: Managing Customer expectations with blast performance and deliveries.

About you

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum of one year of related explosives industry work (i.e. bulk truck operator, de-watering truck operator), and may include a year in a Blaster II position;
  • Experience as a supervisor is preferred;
  • Must satisfy the requirements for a “possessor of explosives” as defined by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms;
  • Acquire and maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required by federal, state and county entities (e.g. blaster licenses and CDL’s for commercial drivers with HAZMAT and Air Brakes endorsements);
  • Satisfactory completion of and demonstrated competencies in DNNA specified training modules, including technical, regulatory and other applicable skill based training;
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
