3D Printing Technician

Our client, a world-leading resources company, is seeking a junior 3D Printing Technician to join their team. This position will be responsible for preparing and producing a variety of 3D printed models for internal presentations and proposals to further their digital innovation strategy. This is a 3-month contract with potential to be extended.

About this role

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing the models identified to date, and additional models as time allows
  • Surface building models, including exterior volumes and detail cut-aways
  • Mill equipment vendor models
  • Mine shaft and underground drifts with supporting elements
  • Shaft lining Galloway including assembly
  • Mobile and mining equipment vendor models
  • Models may require painting and/or gluing
  • Operation, maintenance, and re-supplying the 3D printer
  • Responsible for designing, contracting and managing construction and installation of formal display cases for identified models
  • Colour coding, labeling and text write-ups similar to a museum display for selected models
  • Responsible for logging their activities and lessons learned for transfer of knowledge

About you

Requirements

  • Must be able to make use of the existing SmartPlant 3D model available from Hatch-Bantrel Joint Venture and other 3D formats such as Microstation or SolidWorks from vendors
  • Ability to create copies of sufficient detail or feature resolution for effective 3D printing
  • Experience in model-making is preferred
  • Requires sound time management skills in order to achieve a high utilization rate of the 3D printer
  • Knowledge of operation, maintenance, and re-supplying the 3D printer
  • Responsible for designing, contracting and managing construction and installation of formal display cases for identified models
