About this role

This permanent role is at a world-leading company that uses breakthrough technologies for resource recovery, with operations across North America serving municipal, industrial, commercial, and agricultural markets.

As the operational site manager, you’ll be working closely with the Facility Manager to support successful operations in all aspects of the site. You’ll be a team lead, responsible for maintaining safety standards and ensuring efficient production at every step.

In supporting the Facility Manager, you will be leading the team of operational, maintenance and plant employees on site. You’ll spend some of your time developing your people through coaching and mentoring. Safety is a critical aspect for this role, and you will have responsibility for establishing and maintaining world class safety and environmental standards, while driving a strong culture of operational discipline. All standards are to be in line with Company requirements and compliant with all regulatory requirements. You will use your experience in training and leadership to ensure every person on the site is aligned with the company’s safety and compliance goals.

You’ll be responsible for managing aspects of the site including safety, environmental, financial, HR, administration, legal, engineering, operations, maintenance, and project management. You’ll be targeted on achieving financial, operational, and performance goals for the facility, and manage contractual matters for the site.

As Operations Manager you will take a lead in developing and implementing procedures to improve operational efficiencies (and contribute to increasing revenues) by using shared Best Practice procedures you have tested and improved.

The Operations Manager has responsibility to support the Facility Manager to meet financial, operational, and performance goals for the facility and manage contractual matters for the site.

Day-today, your focus will be on delivering lean, efficient production throughout the facility. You will be committed to operational excellence and heavily involved with customer and supplier engagement. In practical terms, you will be looking for enhanced equipment reliability and excellent repair and maintenance practices. You will undertake business process consulting, supply chain development and alignment of the production line, in order to meet new product quality requirements and future developments that will satisfy developing customer and supplier needs.

About you


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in business or technical field OR 8+ years of progressive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • At least 5 years of Operational Management (Administration, Operation and Engineering) experience, preferably at similar facilities (Anaerobic Digestion, Wastewater Treatment, Industrial Processes, Solid Waste and/or Power Production)

Your Skills:

  • Knowledgable on all aspects of site management, able to handle situations as they arise, looking ahead proactively, particularly for issues regarding safety
  • Team-oriented, with excellent communication and customer service skills
