About this role

Working for one of the UK’s leading energy suppliers, your day to day will be geared towards long-term planning and strategy; writing specifications, setting engineering standards, planning outages, writing contract specs, performing audits on sites and working to get budgets approved.

You can be based at one of the company’s three power stations in Damhead Creek, Rye House or Shoreham, but you’ll sometimes need to travel in between.

There is a lot to learn, but your team will support you and you will be reporting to a Lead Engineer.

This role is all about professional development and you will be given lots of technical and personal training, tailored to suit your needs.

It will be a bit of a learning curve at first and it can take up to 18 months to become fully familiar with the current systems and processes, so we are looking for someone who will be as fully committed to their growth as the company is.

If you do well, there’s also plenty of opportunity to move up, with pathways open to progress into whatever role you want, it completely depends on your ambition.

About you

It’s important that you have a working knowledge of steam/pressure systems, or at least an aptitude for learning about them.

You are also open to travel between sites to work with the O&M teams and you have the flexibility to fit your time around the business.

A degree in a relevant subject would be ideal, as well as a HNC.

Don’t worry if you don’t have one. If you are time-served or have relevant experience, we want to talk to you.

What we offer

This is a permanent position and your typical year would be about 44 weeks doing spent on office-based work, with 6 weeks spent on site doing hands-on work.

The salary will be around £40-£43k per year, with a bonus up to 10%.

You will also have 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a pension of 5% employee + 10% employer contribution.
