About this role

As an Account Manager for the marine and energy markets, you will hold a critical role within the Key Account Team delivering solutions to fit Energy Customers’ needs. You’ll be responding to RFPs and delivering proposals to engage new customers. You’ll be managing relationship management, developing customer accounts and working through detailed negotiations for complex contracts. You’ll be liaising with internal stakeholders such as Sales Support, Product Sales, Legal Counsels and Business Control to maximize business growth and profitability.

You’ll also be setting targets for customer accounts, tracking progress and reporting on your activities and forecasts. You’ll be responsible for creating and managing customer visit reports, noting potential opportunities and devising your own strategies to turn that potential into profit for the company.

In this role, you’ll be sharing your account management expertise, using market intelligence tools to identify unique Value Propositions, and raising the bar for the whole team through the insights you find.

You’ll be visiting customers and travelling extensively (50-70%), so it may be feasible to work remotely, although the position is based out of Houston, TX (applicants need to be authorized to work in the USA, there is no sponsorship available for this role).

About you

You have knowledge of regulations for nuclear power plants and understand their financial business models. You may have an engineering background that supports your understanding of transmission systems, electrical and automation. Or you may come from a financial background and lead with your knowledge of US Energy and capacity markets (MISO, SPP and PJM etc.). You have an understanding of NERC, and grid-scale energy storage systems (power plant operations and maintenance knowledge is an advantage).

Your experience in teams makes you a confident team player, comfortable with brainstorming and creating material that you turn into structured, detailed proposals to win business. You’ll be used to hitting targets and growing business every year, through your focus on customer service and your contract management skills. You’ll be organizing customer seminars and leading customer meetings, using targeted marketing to prospect for more leads.

Your relationship management style is one of engagement – understanding customer needs and reflecting those in the solutions you create and present. You are expert in MS Office applications, you can use digital tools and bring your strong contractual and legal skills to the sales process, as well as your own network of industry contacts.

Must haves:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Economics, Business Administration and/or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Fluent in English, and possibly other languages
  • Willing to travel* (50-70%), working in a Global team of similarly diverse personalities
