About this role

Job description:

While working with supplier quality team, the welding inspector will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality programs and welding inspection duties by adhering to standard quality operational policies, procedures and standards.

  • Manage all aspects of Manufacturing Quality Program to meet, quality targets consistent with customer needs, timing, and the long-term success of the organization.
  • Support one or more project teams consisting of cross-functional team members in the development & implementation of Quality Control in the Manufacturing Plants.
  • Define and communicate clear Quality Control deliverables and performance targets so quality KPIs for manufacturing and superior customer satisfaction are evident and supported by data.
  • Practice and emphasize ‘Zero Defect’ mindset in all aspects of Process & Product Quality development to ensure all activities involving supplier, manufacturing plants customer relationships have clarity and focus about the highest expectations of quality product.


  • Coordination of QC activities, management of Quality Documentation and Non-Conformances (NC) of the project / production line.
  • Oversee data collection, data analysis and development & display of critical QC parameters in key manufacturing operations impacting Quality.
  • Responsible for controlling Incoming Supplier Quality, quality of parts manufactured at the site and ensuring customer ‘buy-offs’ proceed flawlessly.
  • Ensuring that the welding procedures specification are available and deployed in production during all fabrication.
  • Verification that dimensions, fit-up and weld preparations are in accordance with specification.
  • Monitoring and inspect all work performed by tack welders and/or welding operators.
  • Inspect and evaluate welds according to specified inspection procedures, standards, codes, and drawings.
  • Record welding inspection results.
  • Perform weld quality audits.

  • Knowledge of robotics, Metal cutting, Body Assembly Products, Powertrain Assembly Products
  • Experience and understanding in APQP and knowledgeable of designing quality during product development cycle.
  • Non-conforming Material Reporting (NCR) process.
  • Ability to read blue prints, tape measures, calipers, and micrometers


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Business degreed required and extensive organization and industry experience.
  • Experience in WCM methodology - QC Pillar - and PMP/Quality Certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years Product or Process Quality Management experience in the automotive.
    • Minimum five years knowledge of fabrication within the steel industry, of experience in a manufacturing, repair, or operating facility that involves welding.
    • Current CWI certification – AWS D1.1
    • NDT (VT, MT, PT) Certification
