About this role

We are looking for a well-rounded, seasoned controls engineer to work on a variety of control systems projects providing software development, hardware design and on-site system integration. This engineer is required to lead, provide mentorship and perform many tasks in the full completion of a project. Responsibilities include E-Plan and AutoCAD design, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) application programming, Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming and hardware electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematic design.

In addition to development work in-house, the engineer will perform on-site start-up and commissioning work at our customer sites throughout North America. Site work includes supervising the mechanical and electrical installation of our designed control systems, start-up of equipment including PLC control panels, motors, drives and other interconnected mechanical and manufacturing equipment. In-town travel and overnight travel to project sites throughout the US will be required.

About you

  • Knowledge of hardware and software design development for automotive applications
  • Knowledge of RSLogix5000 and/or Siemens PLC programming software
  • Strong hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude to understand and troubleshoot the machinery with which our control systems interface
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage stress effectively in high-pressure situations
  • Understanding of IT principles and an ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a varied audience
  • Graphical or HTML development skills
  • AutoCAD and/or E-Plan experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Associate’s degree in either engineering or computer science; or 2 years equivalent working experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in controls design

Position will be paid hourly with overtime available, no more than 50 hours per week. All full-time Brunel team members are eligible for benefits on your first day of employment. We have several plan options available to fit your needs.
