Peschanka / Baimskaya Copper Field Project Overview
Peschanka/Baimskaya Copper Field is one of the world’s biggest copper fields and the first project of KAZ Minerals. Peschanka was bought by KAZ Minerals from Roman Abramovich at the beginning of 2019 and already at the engineering stage (which is run by Fluor). The company faced several challenges, including lack of local situation knowledge, lack of process preparation due to project HQ being in Canada, and lack of people able to relocate to such severe conditions.
