About this role: Tailings Stabilization Project Lead
We are currently hiring a Tailing Stabilization Project Lead for our mining client. This role will be responsible for leading the tailings stabilization team in all aspects of project delivery to ensure project objectives are met and will prioritize safety in the planning and execution of all work. This is a full-time permanent opportunity located in Kamloops, BC.
Responsibilities
- Ensure safety, quality, and environmental standards are planned, followed, and maintained through each phase of engineering and construction.
- Responsible for planning and monitoring of the New Afton B3 & C-Zone Tailings Stabilization projects.
- Provide direction and support to project engineers that includes mentoring, coaching, supervision, and performance assessments.
- Maintain excellent relationships with the project team, stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
- Ensure Project Controls processes are followed for change management.
- Oversee preparation and evaluation of design and construction tender packages.
- Prepare monthly cost forecasts and schedule updates.
- Develop project-specific project management plans.
- Coordinate between engineering consultants, contractors, site operations and technical personnel.
- Field inspections and involvement in other field activities as needed.
What you need to bring:
Requirements
- Civil, Geotechnical or Mining Engineering Degree or Comparable education
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in projects and/or tailings management
- PMP and P.Eng. designation considered an asset
- Demonstrated team management & safety leadership with supervising experience
- Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Previous capital projects experience in earthworks or mining
- Mine tailings experience considered an asset
- Experience in cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting
- Experience in project development from scoping to commissioning
- Proven ability to meet project deadlines
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities
- Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
- Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
- Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
