About this role: Structural Engineer

We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic Intermediate Structural Engineer to be based in our Vancouver office who are ready to provide engineering design and solutions for mining and industrial projects. This role would suit someone with strong experience in engineering consulting in the mineral processing sector.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost effective structural steel & concrete foundation designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with local codes and standards for mining & industrial projects. .
  • Perform site visits, inspections, and preparation of reports relating to existing and new structures. Evaluation, analysis & assessment of existing structures for modifications and additions, and propose reinforcement solutions
  • As applicable, act as engineer of record or discipline lead, preparing specifications, design criteria, and material take-off for projects.
  • Complete tasks under minimal supervision ensuring that objectives of engineering, drafting budget & quality are met.
  • Be able to work directly with drafting staff in order to produce detailed drawing packages.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and as part of a multidisciplinary group.
  • Coordinate with project managers and various disciplines engineers and ensure consistency in execution of civil design activities to complete project work on time, on budget, and within the quality standards.
  • Liaise with client representatives and general contractors

What you need to bring:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, primarily in the design of various building structures and systems for mining and industrial projects.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of British Colombia,
  • Proficiency in design of steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, and various types of heavy concrete foundations for buildings and equipment.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience managing small to mid-size teams on multidiscipline projects
  • Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards. (Proficiency US and International Codes and Standards is an asset)
  • Proficiency in structural engineering software for analysis would be an asset.
  • Experience in seismic design and analysis
