About this role: Specialist - Technical - Crane & Scaffold Operations

Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking a Crane & Scaffold Operations Technical Specialist. This is a FIFO role based at a gold mine in PNG. The role will be responsible for implementing processes, procedures and training to ensure the safe execution of mobile and fixed plant crane lifts and scaffold builds. This is a full-time opportunity with FIFO benefits and offering competitive salary – 28 days on/14 days off roster with 12-hour days. Commencement date is as soon as possible.

Assist the Fixed Plant Superintendent and Shift Supervisor with the general operation of the Mobile Crane Section within the department including EWP’s, Rigging, Scaffolding, forklifts, boom truck and overhead cranes.

Implementation of standards and procedures to ensure the safe operation of mobile and fixed cranes /hoists and associated safe lifting practices.

Review and sign off on Crane critical lift studies.

Implementing standards and procedures to ensure the safe build of scaffolds, which meet operational requirements.

Development, mentoring and training of crane drivers, riggers, doggers and scaffolders.

Achievement of critical maintenance KPI’s.

Guide the team in the completion of tasks, to ensure achievement of the scheduled work plan.

Develop and/or enhance operational practices such that mobile equipment, scaffolding and overhead cranes are available with highest possible reliability and always in a safe working order.

Guide the team in the completion of tasks, to ensure achievement of the shift plan.

Promote a high level of health and safety awareness and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Policy.

Ensure work is conducted in a safe manner and any safety issues are remedied and/or promptly reported.

Communicate safety and production issues on a shift-by-shift basis.

Assign tasks, equipment, work areas and targets to achieve those targets safely and efficiently.

Carry out workplace inspections and monitor employees and contractors in their tasks.

Through the use of procedures to get the job done, ensure that improvements to the procedures are captured and changes are made to controlled documents by custodian.

Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures, and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Ensure effective communication with delegate prior to departure from site

What you need to bring:

Demonstrated experience in a Supervisory (or higher) level role overseeing operational crews, plus seven years mining or heavy industry experience with mobile cranes, rigging, scaffolding, EWP’s and overhead gantry cranes (preferable).

High risk licenses CO, DG, LF, RA, SB, and WP (preferable).

Experience with a broad range of equipment and makes e.g. P & H, JLG, Liebherr, TEREX and Humma.

Knowledge and experience in a processing operation in a developing country, demonstrating commitment to localisation plans and sensitivity to local customs and practices.

Certificate IV Training and Assessment (desirable).
