About this role: Senior Estimator
Our client are looking for an experienced Estimator to help build out their Commercial New Build sector.
- $170 - 220k + super p/a dependent on experience
- Established builder with a great reputation on the market for completing quality works.
- Range of in-house subbie and strong relationships with external subbies due to timely payment.
- Diverse projects with a value range of $20m to $100m.
- Growth plans leading to definitive career development opportunities with clear pathways to management.
Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely building estimation services to ensure our client's tenders are competitive and low risk propositions. You will also support project teams to ensure variations are accurately priced.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare initial estimating assessment of tenders for tender shortlist review, identifying project content, risks, and opportunities
- Manage Tender Start-up process, ensuring accurate documentation and trade subcontractor selection
- Prepare and present rated and coded Bill of Quantities and/or cost plans for internal review and stakeholder communication
- Analyze Subcontractor pricing, draft project preliminaries, and minimize our client's exposure to risk
- Conduct regular meetings with key subcontractors throughout the tender period
- Prepare job files for handover of successful tenders and project budgets
- Ensure our client's projects include allowances for safety, FSC accreditation, and sustainability initiatives
What you need to bring:
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role in the construction industry (specifically experience working on commercial new build projects $20m+).
- Construction, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying degree, or equivalent experience.
- Solid knowledge of tendering, building standards, estimating procedures, and the competitive market.
- Thorough understanding of the building process and ability to identify and evaluate construction risk.
- Proficient use of CostX, Estimate One, and Microsoft Office software packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Construction Safety Induction (white) card.
