Brunel is thrilled to share that, courtesy of a 1,000-tree donation from our global insurance partner Coverforce, the Brunel Foundation Forest has grown to an incredible 20,000 trees worldwide.

Established in 2021 with the planting of 1,000 trees in Thailand, the Brunel Foundation Forest has steadily expanded to include plantations in the Philippines, Indonesia, Bhutan, Madagascar, Ecuador, Kenya, the United Arab Emirates, and now India. Combined, these trees have offset over 1,750 tonnes of carbon dioxide to date and are expected to offset triple this amount over the course of their lifetime. They have also helped restore natural ecosystems, protect biodiversity and created ethical employment opportunities for local farmers and communities.

Working with EcoMatcher and its local planting partners, Brunel’s global forest has been made possible thanks to the work of 88 local planters from nine different counties who have cultivated 55 different species of trees, each carefully selected for its suitability for both carbon capture and the local ecosystem.

"Supporting the Brunel Foundation Forest was a simple way for us to recognise a wonderful milestone and back an initiative that’s doing genuine good on the ground. We’re pleased to be part of something that delivers real benefits for local communities as well as the environment."

Building a better future

The Brunel Foundation Forest is one of several practical actions taken to ensure that Brunel’s commitment to Cultivating a Greener Future has a real, tangible effect on our people and planet. It is complemented by clean-up events carried out by Brunel staff across the globe alongside efforts to ensure we are collectively Building New Habits in our personal and professional lives to reduce waste, reuse and recycle discarded materials.

“The Brunel Foundation is all about finding practical action we can take at different levels. Our forest plantations are an example of something big and significant which we’re only able to do by banding together the interest and efforts of our international network to create a measurable impact on carbon dioxide.”

"But it’s also really important to take a smaller more personal actions as individuals too. By making more considered, sustainable choices in our private and professional lives we can all contribute to the bigger picture when it comes to the health of our planet.”

“We’re thrilled to have an ethically and ecological similar organisation like Coverforce on this journey with us. Together we will forge a better tomorrow.”
