About this role: Sr Drilling Supervisor

On behalf of our client, a global O&G Operator, we are looking for a Senior Drill Supervisor (day shift) to act as a Company senior representative and focal point on the rig for all activates and operations.

The SDSV would be ultimately accountable for all operations on the rig whether delegated or not.

  • Coordinate and supervise the execution of the approved offshore drilling construction program
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the company Drilling Management System
  • Manage offshore aspects of well construction operations to meet QHSE and asset objectives
  • Manage offshore well construction operations in line with Well Control Procedures, Well Control Bridging documents and Well Operations Manual document
  • Participate as a key player in drilling & completion campaign planning and preparation
  • Review of drilling & completion guidelines to ensure they are in accordance with company and legislative requirements and fit for purpose
  • Manage the activities of offshore rig supervision team
  • Mentor the offshore supervisory team to ensure the appropriate focus is given to HSE supervision,involvement in JSAs and safety meetings
  • Ensure that the company give all required support to the Installation OIM to ensure that operations are carried out safely and effectively
  • Act as the primary liaison and manage interfaces for Drilling between the OIM and any other company entities that affect the MODU
  • Coordinate activities to ensure operational planning and logistics management is given a high priority to provide for safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations
  • Input into the detailed well construction operations plans
  • Oversee the management of service company and contractor personnel at the well site
  • Ensure that all well operations are adequately risk assessed prior to being undertaken
  • Ensure that specific Standing Instructions Drillers (SID) are prepared for all offshore operations
  • Ensure that all operations and well status reports are accurately completed as per the requirements of the well program and the Drilling Management System
  • Ensure that the appropriate well integrity barriers are in place at all times during the Well Construction operations
  • Ensure that any changes to the Well Program are agreed and that where necessary a Management of Change is completed and approved
  • Assist with ensuring accident, incidents and near misses are recorded and reported (as per the requirements of the HSE and EP Plan), that the appropriate level of company involvement is provided for causation determination and that all actions are closed out in a timely manner as per the HSE Plan Occupational Health and Safety
  • Ensuring the welfare of personnel and the protection of assets and the environment at all times
  • SDSV is familiar with required actions contained within approved Emergency Response and Cyclone Response Plans
  • Alerts the Drilling Superintendent (DS) of the incident as soon as the situation has been stabilized and the worksite made safe
  • Actively participate in Client/Company Safety programs and training as required
  • Participate in the Client/Company safety performance program Teamwork


  • Tertiary Degree in Engineering or minimum of 15 years operational rig experience
  • IWCF Subsea Supervisors Well Control Certificate
  • TBOSIET certificate
  • Previous experience in this specific role preferred.
