About this role: Senior Cataloguing Specialist

  • To maintain a comprehensive and accurate catalogue of spare parts for user departments to support Company operations and associated equipment, using relevant software for creating and updating technical descriptions, specifications and part number of individual items, parts lists, lists of parts and entities/asset. This position also resolves cataloging problems and aids in the maintenance of the online catalog;
  • As part of the warehouse team, the Cataloger provides advice, offers demonstrations, and provides information on best practices and up-to-date polices in cataloging. This is accomplished by keeping up-to-date on relevant programs and services that enhance the ability of library staff to provide quality information to patrons in an effective and efficient manner;
  • Create accurate technical descriptions of stock items to ensure material is easily identifiable and correct material is purchased;
  • Technical approach and communication with vendor, supplier and contactors to recognize and cultivate the qualities of effective technical communication;
  • Identify and attach relevant spare parts to entity part lists, giving the user departments a reliable method for identifying the parts required;
  • Identify and catalogue components and non-proprietary spare parts supplied as kits or sets by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM);
  • Maintain the technical library for use by the cataloguing section and user departments;
  • Perform original (including complex) and copy cataloging of all formats of library materials to facilitate their identification, access, and use;
  • Maintain the integrity of the integrated library system through authority file control;
  • Consult with libraries in order to resolve cataloging and database problems, report trends in bibliographic services, answer questions, transmit information, and discuss options for handling library materials;
  • Implement approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.


  • Engineering in a related field (Mechanical, Instrument and Electrical);
  • Expertise in SAP MM, IM and EWM module;
  • Associate degree and six years of relevant library experience;
  • Experienced with computerized cataloging databases;
  • 6 years in a similar position in an oil and gas and /or petrochemical plant and experience in original and copy cataloging and classification of all formats of library material;
  • Microsoft office professional;
  • Ability to work shifts and/or be on call;
  • Technical knowledge of materials and spare parts principles and procedures of professional library work including methods, practices, and techniques of library cataloging and classification;
  • Communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of professional library theories, issues, and trends;
  • Attention to detail;
  • English language.
