About this role: Project Engineer - Tanks

Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking a Project Engineer (Tanks). FIFO role with a gold mine in PNG. The role will be responsible for planning, organizing, managing a team of employees, and directing the completion of the tanks project. Our client is looking at a project duration of 12 months with FIFO benefits and offering competitive salaries – 28 days on/14 days off roster with 12 hour days. Commencement date is as soon as possible.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop the Project Management Plan for the execution of the tanks projects in the following areas of Processing Plant:o CIP Processo Refinery
  • Develop Work Break Structure (WBS) and projects schedule in line with the priorities in the overall recommissioning strategy
  • Develop resources required for the projects’ timely completion
  • Identify issues, critical path and complete a risk assessment
  • Set progress reporting guidelines
  • Integrate the project’s completion into the recommissioning timeline
  • Coordinate and prioritize work with maintenance, operation and all other departments
  • Delivering projects on time for the restart of the fixed plant and associated infrastructure
  • Managing the project’s team, both employees and contractors, throughout the CM / recommissioning

  • Achieve safe and healthy working conditions, promote a high level of health and safety awareness and be responsible for the safe and efficient management of department. Promote and comply with the JV Occupational Health & Safety Policy
  • Achieve agreed environmental targets, legal compliance and incident prevention. Lead and promote the development of a culture of workforce environmental care and respect
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the plant area


Key Role Qualifications Required:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline are desirable, in addition to the key skills and experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in minerals processing, maintenance, and asset-intensive industry. experience in project management and sound knowledge of current project management tools is essential. Previous experience in corrosion control and prevention will be highly regarded. Sound planning, analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent interpersonal and people management skills are required, managing a technically and culturally diverse team.
  • Knowledge and experience in a processing operation in a developing country, demonstratingcommitment to localisation plans and sensitivity to local customs and practices.
  • Ability to obtain PNG Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Works)
  • Current Drivers License
