About this role: Senior Operations Manager
We have been engaged by a well-respected transport provider in Papua New Guinea to recruit for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to run their transport operations. The role is to lead, train and inspire the team in the Northern/ Highland PNG Region areas. We are looking for someone extremely solid in process improvement, leadership and financial/operational KPI management. A strong knowledge of transport operations is a must!
Location: Lae, Morobe Province, PNG
Purpose: This position will be overseeing the logistics of transportation-related activities. Keeping track of transportation operations and ensuring that all policies, procedures, and safety rules are followed.
Reporting to the Group Chief Operating Officer.
Key Accountabilities:
- Fleet Management: Supervise and lead a team of drivers in the Northern/ Highlands PNG region areas, ensuring adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and performance standards.
- Directing activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of transportation vehicles.
- Address any operational issues, emergencies, or delays promptly, implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborating with staff members to formulate and implement transportation-related procedures as well as company revenue goals and customer service objectives.
- Load Planning: Collaborate with the fleet manager to plan and allocate linehaul loads for load transportation.
- Ensure optimal utilization of available resources, considering factors such as load capacity, distance, and delivery deadlines.
- Complying with transportation-related policies, as well as safety rules and government regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, trainings, and inspections to minimize risks and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Promoting safe work activities by conducting safety audits and attending company safety meetings.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business management, or related field.
- At least 10 years’ experience as a transportation manager in a similar industry.
- Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics.
- Experience working with contracts and transportation-related government regulations.
- Critical thinking skills and knowledge of analytics.
- Experience working with transport management systems and warehouse management software.
- Ability to work well with team members and navigate stressful situations.
