About this role: Marine Superintendent

Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking a Marine Superintendent to work in remote location with one of the largest energy companies in the world, who have assets in Oil & Gas, LNG and Renewable energy.

Reporting into the Marine Operations Manager it is expected you will always act in the best interests of our client, whilst adhering to Company and Affiliate Policies. Demonstrate personal commitment to HSSE and to the values and principles of the Code of Conduct. Maintain and safeguard confidential files, documents, and records as they relate to Company operations

Activities of the role:

  • Provide ad-hoc marine technical advice and consultancy to support affiliate Marine operations (cargo barges)
  • Berthing, loading/offloading, towing operations, Vessel Traffic System management, River navigation, bunkering operations
  • On a daily basis, work closely with the Marine Traffic coordinator to ensure a smooth and safe navigation on the river
  • Support call for tender process linked to marine related technical specifications
  • Conduct support vessel inspections as per marine Assurance protocol in place (join safety tours, technical suitability) and propose corrective actions for gaps identified
  • Issue local marine procedures if deemed necessary
  • Ensure all marine related operations are compliant with Company rules and site-specific requirements
  • Provide subject matter expertise in marine related incidents investigation
  • Participate to incident investigation and follow-up
  • Ensure with regular visits on board that all CTRs are fully committed to our Company Standards and Rules

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Senior Rank STWC certificate holder
  • Minimum 10-15 years in O&G offshore activities including 5 years’ experience working for an IOC
  • Experience in Towing operations, organization with strong seamanship skills
  • Ability to work in a challenging and specific maritime environment
  • Fluent in written & Spoken English, French is an advantage
  • Fully conversant with relevant legislation, Company Rules (Referential), and best practices
  • Good interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to coordinate and influence others
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, including significant relevant experience in writing for publication and high-level presentation skills
