About this role

The Intermediate Hydrogeoloist will be responsible for creating scopes of work and cost estimates in accordance with project requirements to ensure successful risk-based assessment goals. Duties include reviewing and interpreting historical reports and site-specific background data to develop comprehensive project overviews, assisting in risk receptor analysis, and developing Conceptual Site Models.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret laboratory analytical results to determine appropriate strategies to progress sites towards regulatory closure.

  • Preparation of Phase 2 ESA, remediation reports, soil and groundwater reports to support EPEA-approved facilities and regulatory variance letter requests.

  • Complete hydrogeological calculations and geological cross-sections, and prepare hydrogeological and contaminant hydrogeology reports.

  • Submit draft technical reports to Technical Advisor for review, and update all report edits identified by the technical reviewer in a timely manner.

  • Conduct complex field work related to contaminant and/or physical (i.e., slug and pump tests) hydrogeology.

  • Analyze slug and pump test data using software.

  • Provide training to staff on contaminant and physical hydrogeology as required.

  • Interact with clients as needed.

  • Promote teamwork and effective collaboration.

  • Remain current with environmental legislation and regulatory updates.

  • Provide input to the existing quality control program, including field data collection, data interpretation, data presentation, project deliverables, and project management.


Bachelor's Degree or diploma in Engineering or Geology

Professional Designation or attaining, and a member of APEGA

Minimum 5 years of experience working on groundwater assessment projects (groundwater quantity and

quality assessment/monitoring, design and installation of groundwater monitoring wells, contaminant

assessment, physical well testing, etc.).

Demonstrates understanding of hydrogeological principles (i.e. groundwater flow direction, hydraulic

gradients, hydraulic conductivity testing, contaminant migration, and surface water-groundwater interactions),

standard field operations and accepted practices
