About this role

We're in search of a dynamic and seasoned Business Development Manager to join our client, a prominent shipping and logistics company specializing in maritime trade services. This company offers a comprehensive suite of services, including ship agency services, freight forwarding, logistics, and project cargo management across Asia and Oceania. With a significant role in facilitating international trade and maritime operations, our client is at the forefront of industry innovation.

The ideal candidate will boast a robust background in servicing offshore vessel owners, coupled with strong commercial acumen and technical proficiency in vessel equipment, particularly in electrical installation and commissioning. This role will entail extensive travel within Southeast Asia (SEA) with occasional trips to Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and target offshore and marine vessel owners to expand business opportunities and bolster market share.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to drive sales growth and meet revenue targets.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry professionals.
  • Craft and deliver compelling proposals, bids, and tenders tailored to meet clients' specific needs.
  • Harness technical expertise in vessel equipment, such as navigation systems and valves, to provide specialized support and advice to clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless project execution across various stages, from consultation and project management to maintenance, survey & inspection, lay-up, fabrication, and procurement.
  • Drive sales and business development initiatives to identify new opportunities and foster revenue growth.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and internal departments to facilitate effective communication and timely issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Diploma or relevant trade certificates.
  • Minimum of 5 solid years of relevant experience in sales and business development.
  • Experience in serving offshore/Marine vessel owners, preferably with industry leaders
  • Strong commercial acumen with adeptness in developing and presenting proposals.
  • Knowledge of 1-2 vessel equipment systems, including navigation systems and valves.
  • Technical expertise in electrical installation and commissioning.

Desirable:

  • Previous sailing background transitioning to onshore work is advantageous.
  • Experience with companies that provide technical services, marine support services to shipowners and operators worldwide, or similar service companies is desirable.

Other:

  • Willingness to travel 40-50% of the time within SEA with occasional trips to Europe.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
