Introduction

  • Analyze, interpret, and integrate geophysical data to establish and update geologic frameworks and models for oilfields.
  • Undertake geophysical studies of the reservoirs to evaluate proposed well locations and optimize field development plans.
  • Conduct rock property modelling.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.

What are you going to do

  • Develop and mentor less experienced staff.
  • As and when required by Company and to support international opportunities, the Snr. Geophysicist should provide support on all geophysical activities and studies in Company’s International operated and non-operated assets.
  • Activities will include New Venture opportunity screening, regional studies; conduct detailed reservoir characterization studies for optimum field development.
  • Recommend and implement any specialized seismic processing/inversion techniques to provide optimum reservoir data for input into and QC of reservoir models.
  • Following all Exploration and Development drilling operations; overseeing geophysical data acquisition and processing. Participate in interdisciplinary reservoir study teams.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of work experience as Geophysicist or as a seismic interpreter. Must have undertaken field and reservoir studies and be able to integrate geologic, well, and geophysical data.
  • Must have worked on mature producing fields where the integration of production data has been used to constrain their maps and interpretations.
  • Must have experience in geophysical risk analysis for proposed well locations.
  • Must have carbonate reservoir experience and use seismic stratigraphy concepts in project work.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable in all aspects of surface seismic acquisition and processing.
  • Must have experience mentoring less experienced geoscientists.
  • Hands-on geoscience work in New Ventures screening and Exploration to Field Development functions
  • Demonstrable experience in oil and natural gas exploration and development projects in a wide range of sedimentary basins and tectonic settings globally, pre and post salt basins, basin and play led exploration from inception to prospect generation and drill-ready well locations
  • Must have experience/knowledge of current computer software for geophysical applications.
  • B.Sc. in Geology or Geophysics is required.
  • Experience at project specification, bidding, and execution in surface seismic and VSP acquisition, processing, and interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of seismic attribute analysis to model rock properties, sedimentary faces and depositional architecture.
  • In -depth knowledge of fault and fracture detection, and to have worked with modelers to incorporate interpretations into 3D geologic models.
  • General understanding of the major elements of reservoir engineering, like the interpretation of well tests and tracer data.
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree.
  • Experience in working with standard production geosciences software:
    • Interpretation, mapping, visualization: Petrel and R5000
    • Database: R5000
