Introduction

  • Develop and implement Lead Loss Prevention (LP) engineering activities including development of philosophies, codes of practice and standards during FEED, detailed engineering, commissioning and start-up to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Review contractor’s loss prevention, SHE risks, process safety engineering design deliverables and support the FEED contractor by providing clear and timely guidance to close out LP studies/activities to complete engineering design milestones.
  • The role requires conducts technical evaluations of multiple tenders for large capital projects.
  • Indirectly supervises contractor’s Loss Prevention Engineering personnel to effectively steward the Loss Prevention scope in accordance with project requirements, from contract award until delivery.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with contractor and stakeholders (e.g. Operations and SHEQ) to ensure alignment on overall delivery of Loss Prevention scope in accordance with project requirements and plan.
  • Define scope, review and verify a large number of SHEs studies in a timely manner to make design decisions to meet project execution milestones.

What are you going to do 

  • Define scope, supervise, review and verify a suite of project deliverables including procedures, loss prevention philosophies and design specifications, detailed engineering deliverables.
  • Review Loss Prevention Engineering project deliverables with Project Management Team (PMT) and Onshore Expansion and Start-up (OES) team.
  • Initiate risk assessment studies as required to evaluate alternative design proposals during detailed engineering and different commissioning/ Start-up sequences.
  • Apply Loss Prevention external and Company codes and standards to guide the execution of the contract.
  • Act as Company Loss Prevention focal point during safety studies (e.g. Design Safety Case, QRA, HAZOPs, PHA studies etc.).
  • Participate in Loss Prevention activities at contractors’ offices as required by project plans and schedules.
  • Monitor the Loss Prevention Engineering schedule and critical milestones that meets the Project’s and OPCO’s requirements, develop and manage recovery plans to address any delays.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of technical attachments and scope description to all Loss Prevention related purchase orders and own related technical attachments and scope description in all fabrication and construction contracts.
  • Advise contractor Loss Prevention organization in respect to compliance with policies for prevention of information brokering and business standards guidelines; engineering and design procedures, processes and deliverables; staffing plans, personnel suitability and adequacy and the successful resolution of any claims.
  • Lead the development of the design safety case and associated deliverables and ensure these are reviewed and aligned with the OPCO.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Safety Engineering.
  • 6 years’ experience within industrial safety and loss prevention in the oil and gas industry of which 4 years in a major LNG project/ production facilities.
  • Experienced in risk assessments, safe systems of work, and emergency procedures, preferably in a major project environment.
  • Good command in the following risk, process safety and design aspects:
    • HAZID, HAZOP, Bow Tie Analysis, Physical Effects Modelling.
    • Quantitative Risk Assessments.
    • Hazardous area classification and layout safety.
    • Fire and Gas detection.
    • Active fire fighting.
    • Passive fire protection.
    • Escape, Evacuation, Mustering and Emergency Response.
    • Developing Design Safety Case.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Strong analytical skills. Good computer literacy in professional and technical packages.
