Introduction
Brunel is currently seeking an experienced Senior Highway Lead to join our EPCM client's team in Mississauga, Ontario. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and managing a variety of small to large-scale, high-profile public infrastructure projects, with a focus on the design and delivery of highways, roadways, and related transportation infrastructure within contract delivery environments.

You will be required to work within a growing team environment, carrying out feasibility, assessment, design, project engineering/management, and construction support services across a wide range of highway and transportation engineering assignments.
Responsibilities
- Planning, organizing, and working with technical groups in the delivery of project requirements.
- Lead and manage a dedicated highway team, including engineers, designers, and technical professionals, providing mentorship, technical direction, and performance oversight.
- Design of highways and roadway infrastructure, including urban and rural roadways, interchanges, corridors, drainage systems, and associated civil works.
- Manage and mentor multidisciplinary project teams, providing leadership, technical direction, and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Involvement in project management of transportation engineering projects, particularly within design-build and alternative contract delivery models (DB, DBF, P3).
- Ensure projects are well managed and controlled, and meet required performance, safety and business standards.
- Act as a technical lead for highway projects, providing expert guidance on all technical aspects of the design process.
- Develop, review, and approve technical designs, reports, and specifications for a variety of projects.
- Prepare construction cost estimates, ensuring accurate budgeting and financial management throughout project execution.
- Support delivery of projects from pursuit and proposal stages through detailed design and construction, working closely with contractors and construction teams.
- Support and contribute to strategic initiatives, and long-term business growth goals.
- Lead business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and identifying new project opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario transportation design standards, including familiarity with MTO specifications, RAQS requirements, and contract delivery expectations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive team environment, ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.
- Mentoring and development of technical staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized and accredited University in Civil Engineering.
- Eng. designation in Ontario.
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in highway/transportation engineering and design software, with a focus on roadway design and project management.
- Experience with Ontario Transportation design standards, specifications, and deliverable requirements for highway and roadway projects.
- Strong technical expertise in highway design, including geometric design, drainage, grading, and traffic staging/constructability.
- Excellent communicator and skilled problem solver with a commitment to thrive in a proactive organization where client service is paramount.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Demonstrated ability to support and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Business development experience and a demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships is highly desirable.
