What are you going to do 

We are partnering with our client, a respected organization in the Oil and Gas sector, to hire a QC Pipeline Engineer for a contract position based in Chennai, India. This is a key role within our client's team, focused on ensuring safe, high-quality delivery of cross-country hydrocarbon pipeline projects supporting liquid storage terminals, refineries, tank farms and marine terminals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute cross-country pipeline engineering and construction from survey through commissioning.
  • Review route alignment sheets, P&IDs, pipeline profiles, isometrics, HDD packages and crossing drawings.
  • Coordinate ROW development, trenching, stringing, bending, welding, lowering, backfilling and reinstatement.
  • Manage HDD, road, railway, river and utility crossings in compliance with statutory approvals.
  • Supervise valve stations, scraper traps, manifold stations, cathodic protection and pipeline marker installation.
  • Ensure welding quality, WPS/PQR compliance, NDT, field joint coating, holiday testing and material traceability.
  • Coordinate hydrotesting, dewatering, gauging, pigging, drying and pre-commissioning activities.
  • Ensure HSE compliance including excavation safety, PTW, lifting operations, environmental protection and emergency preparedness.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, QA/QC, contractors, planning and commissioning teams.
  • Prepare progress reports, risk registers, as-built documentation, turnover dossiers and support final project handover.
  • Cross-country pipeline construction, HDD, tie-ins, hydrotesting, pigging and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of API 1104, ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, API 5L, NACE SP0169, OISD, IS and PESO requirements.
  • Pipeline welding, coating, cathodic protection, ROW management and integrity awareness.
  • Software: AutoCAD, Primavera P6/MS Project, SAP, GIS (preferred), MS Office.

Essential skills and knowledge 

  • BE / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering. Certifications in API 1104, ASME B31.4/B31.8, NACE, CSWIP/AWS, PMP or NDT are desirable.
  • Experience: 5-12 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Petroleum, LNG, Pipeline or EPC projects with hands-on exposure to cross-country pipeline construction and commissioning.
  • Experience executing long-distance petroleum products, crude oil or aviation fuel pipelines.
  • Strong capability in multidisciplinary EPC coordination and execution within operating facilities.
