Brunel is actively seeking candidates for the role of Electrical Engineer, a pivotal position within the Engineering function of the Project Development Group for our esteemed mining client. The selected Electrical Engineer will bring specialized expertise to manage the delivery of a designated technical scope of work across various studies and projects, playing a central role in ensuring the success of the project.

What are you going to do 

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise to support the development of the Scope of Work (SOW) for various electrical projects within the department.
  • Manage the development of a review process for technical documents as may be required and coordinate review and return to the consultant in a timely manner.
  • Serves as a liaison between the engineering contractor and the project team in the area of accountability and may have accountability to monitor and manage the scope, cost, schedule and quality of engineering contractor deliverables.
  • Coordinate with PDG’s Engineering Manager to ensure the requirements of the following disciplines are understood and adequately addressed in engineering design:
  • Health, Safety and Occupational Hygiene
  • Process Safety including Safety in Design and Sustainable Design
  • Foster direct, effective communication with consultants and contractors on intricate electrical matters.
  • Provide crucial support for estimate development and actively manage electrical trade-off studies and economic evaluations.

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • Bring 7-10+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering within the Mining industry.
  • Demonstrate technical competency, safety leadership, and sustainability understanding.
  • Previous construction and field experience preferred.
  • Showcase project experience as an owner's team representative or EPCM contractor.
  • Exhibit a nuanced understanding of "fit for purpose" and "value engineering" in electrical engineering.
  • Excel in collaborative teamwork, prioritizing activities for project success.
  • Possess strong critical thinking skills and proficiency in project management tools.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
