Job Title: Drilling Engineer / Specialist I
Location: 100% on-site, Spring, TX
Schedule: Rotational, 4 weeks on/4 weeks off - day/night shift
Duration: 1-year W2 contract (possibility of extension)
Per diem available.
Candidates must be willing to work either a day shift or night shift on a rotational schedule.
We are looking for a Drilling Engineer / Specialist I with minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering and/or operations (including surveillance). Demonstrated strong analytical and technical capabilities related to drilling engineering. Proven ability to communicate effectively between engineering and operations teams (including verbal communication and presentations). Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Provide engineering support for planning, design, monitoring, and follow-up needed to safely and efficiently execute drilling and completion programs.
Ensure that well objectives are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental compliance.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Accountable for engineering planning, design, monitoring, and follow-up required for safe and efficient drilling and completion operations, including:
− Review historical offset well data to identify and understand drilling hazards
− Use geological and reservoir targets within the wellbore to develop well plans
− Generate cost estimates for various well design alternatives
− Determine and organize equipment and materials needed to execute the drilling plan
− Design wells in accordance with regulatory standards
− Prepare and evaluate technical bids for equipment and services
− Monitor daily operational activities
* Provide on-site rig surveillance for drilling and completion operations, including technical evaluation of critical activities
* Offer monitoring and technical support for projects, equipment testing, and implementation of new procedures
* Coordinate with operations personnel to ensure well plans are practical and executable
* Collaborate closely with other disciplines such as geology, reservoir engineering, and project teams to ensure all available data informs the program and supports well objectives
* Depending on the scope, deepwater experience may be necessary, including familiarity with subsea systems, riser analysis, and subsea well control equipment
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering and/or drilling operations, including surveillance activities
* Experience or knowledge in drilling borehole management (such as hole cleaning, borehole stability, etc.) is ideal
* Deepwater and unconventional (uncon) assets experience is preferred
* Strong ability to organize and clearly communicate ideas
* Experience using well design software along with Microsoft Office tools
* Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
* Industry experience in well planning and execution
