About this role: Laboratory Supervisor (Bilingual)

We are currently hiring a Laboratory Supervisor for our client, a leading marketer and handler of grains, oilseeds, pulses, and cotton. The company is known for its world-leading, fully integrated agriculture network that connects producers and consumers to supply sustainable, traceable, and quality-controlled agricultural products.

Under the responsibility of the Quality Assurance Manager, the successful candidate will maintain and improve the quality management system. The candidate will also coordinate the activities of the quality laboratory and supervises the laboratory technicians.


  • Develops and implements plans, processes, and procedures to identify quality concerns, address issues and improve quality performance
  • Ensures correct processing parameters are in place and recommends process changes to operations staff when required
  • Handles escalated issues and other issues related to out of specification product
  • Supervises and reviews lab analysis, data, and lab records/logs; identifies problems with testing, instruments, or aberrant test data; and resolves issues
  • Maintains staffing requirements and coordinates workflow and requests. Recruits and trains staff, monitors employee performance, conducts performance reviews and effectively deals with performance issues. Identifies staff or equipment requirements and makes recommendations
  • Tracks production and quality performance and prepares related reports
  • Supports the immediate manager in the development, improvement, monitoring, and maintenance of the quality system
  • Ensures the follow-up and analysis of non-conformities, improvement opportunities, customer complaints, requests for corrective actions
  • Participates in internal and external audits
  • Performs all other tasks related to quality assurance at the request of the immediate superior

  • Gère les problèmes liés à un produit hors spécifications
  • Supervise et examine les analyses de laboratoire, les données et les enregistrements/journaux de laboratoire ; identifie les problèmes avec les tests, les instruments ou les données de test aberrantes et résout les problèmes
  • Maintient les besoins en personnel et coordonne le flux de travail et les demandes Identifie les besoins en personnel ou en équipement et fait des recommandations
  • Suit la production et les performances de qualité, et prépare des rapports connexes
  • Supporte son supérieur immédiat dans le développement, l’amélioration, le suivi et le maintien du système qualité
  • Assure le suivi et l’analyse des non-conformités, opportunités d’amélioration, plaintes clients, demandes d’actions correctives
  • Participe aux audits internes et externes
  • Effectue toutes autres tâches en lien avec l’assurance qualité à la demande du supérieur immédiat



  • Three to five (3 – 5) years related experience preferably in a food manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor of Science or technical diploma in chemistry
  • Experience with GC, ICP, NIR and spectrophotometers
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance programs
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues impacting food testing processes
  • Ability to supervise a team of unionized lab technicians
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Computer competent
  • Bilingual- French and English

Expérience Requise

  • Trois à cinq (3 à 5) ans d'expérience connexe, de préférence dans un environnement alimentaire
  • Baccalauréat en sciences ou équivalent (chimie, biologie, microbiologie, génie chimique)
  • Expérience avec instruments de laboratoire (ICP, GC, NIR…)
  • Connaissance et compréhension des programmes d’assurance qualité
  • Connaissance et compréhension démontrées des problèmes ayant une incidence sur les processus d'analyse des aliments
  • Capacité à superviser une équipe de techniciens de laboratoire syndiqués
  • Aptitudes démontrées pour les relations interpersonnelles, la communication et l'organisation
  • Compétent en informatique
  • Bilingue (anglais/français) un atout
  • Bilinguisme français et anglais
