Jobs in Queensland

Queensland’s population surged in 2021, surpassing population growth in the rest of the country. Workers are attracted from interstate for the lifestyle benefits and diversity of opportunities offered in the sunshine state, which spells good news for economic growth and future stability. Queensland is Australia’s third largest employing state, accounting for one in five working Australians.

The top five employing industries in 2021 are: health care and social assistance (15 per cent of the state’s employment), retail trade, construction (nine per cent of the state’s employment), education and training, accommodation and food services. Half of all jobs are concentrated in Brisbane and more than 10 per cent around the Gold Coast.
