About this role: Wastewater O&M Manager

  • Supervises and leads all wastewater collection and treatment activities within client;
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring wastewater services within client;
  • Works towards the reduction of the time required to implement new wastewater connections;
  • Ensures personnel in charge of wastewater services are properly trained and have the correct tools and equipment to carry out their jobs;
  • Supervises and monitors all aspects regarding the delivery of services by O&M contractors;
  • Contributes to the implementation of the enabling Projects;
  • Monitors wastewater O&M costs and make recommendations for improvement;
  • Analyses incidents on wastewater network and sewage treatment plants and when necessary. recommend changes to procedures to prevent future occurrences;
  • Ensures that technical documentation is up to date;
  • Participates in an on-call duty roster as required to ensure objectives are met and security of the service provision is maintained as instructed by Management;
  • Adheres, respects and ensures the adherence to the company Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Policy and Procedures at all times.


  • Graduation from high school education or any equivalent degree;
  • Seven (7) years of experience relating to the operation of a wastewater treatment facility including the operation of related maintenance equipment, or any equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in public water supply and distribution systems;
  • Thorough knowledge of pipe installation, connection and repair;
  • Skill in operation of the tools and equipment;
  • Ability to guide, direct and motivate employees;
  • Ability to operate and maintain various equipment used in wastewater maintenance and repair such as backhoe, dump trucks and jetting machines;
  • Ability to organize and supervise the activities of various crews performing construction and maintenance work;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
