About this role: Estimator
Brunel has an exciting direct opportunity for an Estimatorwith our client, a leader in heavy civil construction and underground construction in North America and Canada. This position is located in Evansville, Indiana.
The position is responsible for preparing cost estimates for underground construction projects. Our client specializes in heavy civil construction and underground mine development and are known for their expertise in the engineering and underground construction of deep shafts and tunnels of all sizes and complexity.
- Assist with organizing and managing the bid process in conjunction with the Estimating Manager
- Review and analyze bid documents to develop project labor, materials, and equipment requirements and costs
- Travel to attend pre-bid meetings and site visits while establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, engineers, and consultants
- Consult with suppliers and subcontractors during the bidding process to determine costs
- Assist with the technical proposals and presentations
- Assist with the preparation of post-bid work plans, procurement, scheduling, and cost control
- Actively participate in production tracking and post-job analysis
- Assist with maintaining database of historical estimates and project information records
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management is required
- 5 years’ experience in heavy civil, mining, underground construction or a related area with good working knowledge of general engineering applications and construction practices
- Previous experience with field engineering, estimating, project scheduling, and technical writing required
- Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products, civil estimating software (preferably HCSS), and scheduling software (preferably Primavera P6).
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks and manage those tasks concurrently within firm timelines
- Ability to read and understand construction documents including contracts, specifications, and drawings
- Attention to detail with an emphasis on time management and organizational skills and function effectively within a team atmosphere
- Ability to travel overnight as needed on an infrequent basis
- Ability and willingness to visit sites (mines and tunnels) within an underground environment
