Category Buyer

Do you have a passion for procurement and supply chain management? Are you experienced in category buying in the chemical or manufacturing industry? We have an exciting opportunity for a Category Buyer to cover a 12-month maternity leave contract in our clients’ Botany based office.
As the Category Buyer, you will be responsible for procuring and directing the supply of raw materials requirements at the best value. You will develop, enhance, and influence relationships with suppliers to maintain the highest degree of safety, quality, and service. You will execute a procurement plan for raw materials in line with all internal policies and procedures and manage data in SAP for ANZ procured materials.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have both a commercial and technical background, with an overall industry experience in category buying/purchasing. You should have a sound understanding of contracts and be experienced in supplier negotiations. You will need to have strong concern for impact, be results driven and will need to demonstrate both strategic and conceptual thinking.
We are looking for someone who can negotiate effectively, develop supplier relationships, and build relationships with internal stakeholders. You should be able to handle the competing demands of short and long-term issues and deal effectively with internal and external partners. You should also have strong interpersonal skills with a high level of both verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent organisational skills.
